It got up to almost 70 degrees in my neck of the woods today. So of course, I've got spring - and all its fashion and footwear - on the brain.
I'm considering a pair of Tom's shoes for that transitional not-warm-enought-for-my-Rainbows weather, but every time I try them on, I feel like they make my calves look fat. Has anyone else experienced this? I hate it when I LOVE something in theory. I had a similar experience with blond hair in 2006, but that's its own story.
I like natural and red, both $44:

They make wedges for $69, but you can find cute, comfortable wedges everywhere in the spring and summer:

These Soludos are like Tom's, but for only $28. The stripes would be great with all kinds of summery looks:
Ms. Burch has fashioned her own version, but at $95, you could buy two pairs of Tom's:
These Rocket Dog's from DSW are a little different, and the price is right at $29:
So what do we think? Do you like these sort of flat espadrilles as a transitional shoe? Do any of you have these and love/hate them? Please tell!
Everyone I know that has a pair of Tom's loves them. I keep meaning to buy a pair! I was walking into Earth Fare this week and a girl in front of me had a pair of the gold sequined ones on. Just with jeans and a tee and she looked precious. I really want some, just have to figure out what type. And I do want the wedges. I have arthritis in my feet and these look REALLY cushioned.
ReplyDeleteThe awesome thing about Toms is that every time you buy a pair, a pair is donated to someone in a third-world country. Who knew shoe-buying could be so philanthropic?!
ReplyDeleteI have also been concerned about how my legs will look with them...mostly because I see them on young trendy girls with skinny jeans. I am many things, but skinny-jeans-wearer is NOT one of them. But maybe you have just given me the courage to give them a shot. After all, it will help some poor young African kid. :)
They TOTALLY give me cankles.
ReplyDeleteLove these shoes!
ReplyDeleteI am actually wearing the pink sequined ones as a bridesmaid soon. They are going to be soo much more comfortable than heels for the all day event. I really think the hardest part is going to be having them in my closet and not wearing them before her big day!
I could see me wearing a pair of these with capri pants and a t-shirt or maybe a little casual dress -- even though I hardly ever wear flat shoes anymore because I like to pretend I'm 5' 7". I had a pair of flat denim espadrilles when I was in college -- I wore them with khaki shorts I think. I vote for the red Toms or the black and white striped ones.
ReplyDeleteI love them in theory, but am afraid I would look ridiculous in them.
ReplyDeleteAndrew and I went to Byron's for breakfast and the waitress that brought us our food had these natural Tom's on. I asked how she liked them and she said she loves Tom's but not this pair. The material was totally ripping and falling apart. She said her roommate just got the same pair and they are doing the same thing. So, I would opt for the red Tom's! No! Do they have orange? Cause if they do, you need those and I need the red ones.
