Listen to your Mother: Get the Water Out

It's been a while since the last Listen to your Mother post, and this time, my mom brings you another really helpful laundry tip:
Kenmore White 400 series Washer and Dryer
When you wash heavy items (like towels and bath mats) and it takes about 2 ½ days in the dryer before they’re good and crispy, here are two tips: 1) When the wash is complete, reset the washer for Fast Spin again. It’s amazing how much more water will spin out. 2) Check the space where your dryer vents outside your house. You’ll be astounded at the HUGE lint ball bunnies (more like lint cattle) that accumulate to clog the vents and keep the moisture in your clothes.

I'm putting this tip to work tonight. Seems like as good a time as any to try the tip AND get my bathmats clean.

  1. Wow, I had no idea. I've had to put my towels on two extra dry rounds lately. I'm sure my vent is full of lint as I haven't even looked at it since I moved in, almost 5 years ago?!?!

  2. Here's another tip I just discovered-make sure the exhaust hose is actually attached to the outside of the house. LOL! It was taking like 8 days to dry my towels.
