Jimmy and friends (Zac Brown, Kenny Chesney, etc) are performing a free concert next Thursday, July 1, on the beach in Gulf Shores, Ala., my home away from home. So. Excited. So if you're anywhere near the area, come on down and enjoy a great time for a good cause. While you're there, grab some grub at the Original Oyster House, or Mikee's, or the Gulf Shores Steamer, or King Neptune's, or any of the other great restaurants in the area. Go shopping! Play golf! Come hang out with me!
UPDATED: Well good Lord I wrote this post yesterday, and apparently 35,000 tickets sold out within about 10 seconds. Now we're finding out that Ticketmaster gave tickets to condos down there early so they could be sold as packages. So I didn't get tickets. But you know what? I'm still heading to the coast to support the economy. And if the gentle tunes of Jimmy make their way to the house's porch, well, all the better.
That is so great that they are doing this. I hope people will come and stay through the 4th. We'll be at the beach too (in PCB though) and I'm curious to get a first hand look.
ReplyDeleteI heard on news talk radio this morning that they only made 5,000 tickets available to the general public and the condos got the rest. Well NO WONDER no one could get them! We have decided to have the neighbors over, grill cheeseburgers and maybe try out my neighbors "Frozen Concoction Maker" and watch the part on CMT.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you didn't get tickets. We tried to get tickets to Elton John this year and apparently Ticket Master had some gliche where it wouldn't allow you to buy only 2 tickets so it looked sold out when it wasn't. I guess it did sell out within 10 minutes though.
ReplyDeleteHope you'll at least hear part of the concert. Have fun!
